Cycling... The very word makes me think of the days when cycling was the means to reach places... I used to cycle around 25 kms a day when i was in PU.... Tutions, college, tutions... Man.. gone are those days.... I learn to cycle when i was 8... Appa's Hero cycle(Yeah the big one)..... I could hardly reach on peddle when it went down... I could never get on and off cycle.. Appa used to get me on cycle on high school ground and i used to go one big round and come back to Appa to get down from it.. :) All i knew was to apply brakes.. I had one real bad fall once since i couldn't get off cycle.. :) he he he... But learn it hard way... Can't thank appa enough for teaching it to me.. :)
When Sapna told me there is cycling trip, had all smiles on me.. But surely doubted if i would be able to do any cycling, since hadn't touched for sooo long.. Sapna said, "Pinki you are swimming, I bet you can do it".... She said she is cycling too and boosted my spirits to heights.. :)
Saturday evening spoke to Sapna, what i had to carry.. She said a water bottle, and i carried only that.... I didn't even know how far is the ride.. She said they will get the bikes and i was all set.... I was already by 6.30 and called her.. She asked me to relax for another hour.. Finally i was picked up at 8.. Badri said, one winger will come with cycles on the top and you will know... The moment i saw the winger, was all excited and all smiles... :):):)
I didn't know anyone expect Sapna and Badri.... They weren't in the winger.. i entered and said Hi to all and introduced myself... Had so many questions in mind about how long is the ride, and people, and what not...
Reached Bangalore University and saw Sapna there.... And moved in the winger till the end of it and here we go we were all set to Start.. First question i had in mind "Why are these cycles with just ONE WHEEL??"
And here we go were all were gathered and met Ashutosh and Badri and started with a memory game of remembering names..... :) Trust me soo hard to remember names and especially meeting everyone for first time... But did manage to remember and play the game... Time for second one... Ashu said choose one person as your partner and we are supposed to know about that person by breakfast break... which was 10 kms away.. :D So everyone did.. and our director(Gowtham) was all busy shooting all of us.. Vinay was riding for our director.... :D and we all were asked a question, What time is it?? "ITS CYCLING TIME" was the answer...
I got Ashvath as my partner... I guess i could just exchange few words only in the beginning, got to know he belongs to a Doctor's family... :):) After that i started cycling a little ahead and i didn't want to slow down because i know once i slowdown i would never pick up the pace.. was moving on with a pace.. so started talking to whoever came along... Was so nice to know sooo many people.. I am people person.. I love being with people.. I enjoyed it sooo much... We did ride on a tank bund... few more clicks and our director was still shooting...and i remember the first slope on road woooooow it was... and sapna and me started saying.. "Weight does have lots of advantages"
Our first target was to reach breakfast point almost near to Doddaladamara (Big Banyan Tree)... We cycled 10 kms and were all set for breakfast.. As soon as Priety saw the place to break, she cycled with all her energy and rested there... :) Bisi Bisi Uppit and Maavinahannina Sira... Wah wah... Mouthwatering breakfast... Ate stomach full... We were asked to move ahead with another 7 kms to reach Doddalamara... We went there and we heard a news, Sapna along with Yashu, had lost her way and reached somewhere near to bangalore.. :D Trust she has driven more kms than any one of us.....She was successful misguiding Yashaswini along with her too...
So in my list of seeing places i did tick off Doddalamara.. :D we took a short break and then we started again.. Me, Bhargavi, Surya started our ride.... We were on for few more kms ... Met Narayan urf Nano who was searching for who was his partner.. :) i gave him a solution get to know everyone is safer a bid.. :)
We took a frooti break in ahead.... and ate some chikki, few more clicks and off.. Now we saw our director riding towards us... he he he... So me and Gowtham started cycling ....Now we were cycling towards Manchinabele dam(one more on my to see list)... Was all glad.. Gowtham was narrating me a story on how his bike brokedown last time he visited this place.. :D He said once we reach the dam, the road opens up into a beautiful screnary... Trust me it was worth a watch.. There was one slope on the road and it opened up into a beautiful arena... Since Gowtham's cycle had just one break, we did ride slow and he took one SNAP OF THE TRIP for me.. :D It seemed in that pic as though i rode a tough terrain.. ;) Then we stooped over to find out two more people were off the way...They had entered the dam road... We started again with Ashu and Priety in the car, our navigators... We stopped over in one of the turns to stop sapna from deviating from the road.. But guess what she successfully lost her way again... Thanks to Vinay to get her back on track...There we saw a board which read savanadurga 2 kms.. It was such a motivating factor.. Someone had wiped off the 1 next to 12... ;)
We were searching for a place to break for Lunch and Finally did found one place and they said its 2 Kms ahead... Kept on peddling and peddling... with Gowtham with all his energy boosted and pushed me to cycle.. :) We reached the place to lunch... It was one shani temple and we had nice tree shade to sit and eat... We parked ourselves and HOGGED.... Swathi's Pulyogre was awesome so was Sapna's Mosaranna.. :D This was a longer break.... After eating, we had one nice round of mimics session from Ashutosh.. He is AWESOME..... Karnanda.. :) Such a talented guy... :) Now with stomach and ears full we started towards savanadurga and it was just 7 kms away... few of the up hill roads now... Followed our oldest way of riding these times, Get off cycle and push it up the hill.. Worked us wonders... Me and sapna had some conversations on our way... One of the villages we passed, there were kids who got their cycles out and were racing with us... Was one experience not to forget.. Here we go we reached the place... Me and Sapna looked at each other and felt sooo contented.. We did a bike salute.. (though sapna did it the best) WE DID IT..... felt soooo nice... Nobody wanted to trek from there.. all tired.. we took lots of rest had out best of tea and off to bangalore....
