Ever since i am a child every year Dasara meant, HOLIDAAAAYS, going to Mysore, watching the Dasara event, watching Torch Light Parade,Chamundi hills(Though most of times its just climbing the hill, not getting inside the temple because of the rush),Exhibitions, soo many things........ Guess i have seen Dasara in Mysore continuously for 12 years... Trust me its an treat to eye to watch all that...
Every year since 5 years first thing which comes on my mind when i think of Dasara is Shanthala's house with lots of dolls arranged for the BOMBE habba... :) Moment Dasara starts i make sure i ask her when to visit her house before even she invites.... :D Visit her one of these days and enjoy the bombe habba along with nice food... :)
This year I wanted to take the pictures of the dolls. So went a little early by 4.30 and the theme was sooo nice.. She had Kannada as the theme.
There was a nice rangoli in front of the door..She had painted Kannada flag colors on the mat and had hung it on door.. Then came the time to see the next nice things displayed.... She had put old gramophone records on the mat and displayed on the walls..
Next displays to be looked at were the Kannada poems being displayed along with the poet's pictures on them. Was really refreshing to read them out...
Finally came the long list of dolls which had to be captured... Started clicking and trust me it took more than half an hour...There are nearly 800 or more dolls.... Beautiful collection of such variety of dolls.... Name the kinds she has.. Let me try to list some... Lots of varieties of Ganesha's, Krishna's, Lakshmi's, Japanese dolls, Variety of cooking utensils models, fruits, Yakshagaana dolls, one set of whole village set up dolls,... so on and so forth.... Its an treat to eye... :) After the click click, had wonderful payasam and usli... had one treat.. :) Met couple of my old colleagues.. Its a nice day on the whole.. :)
Hats off to Shanthala's patience of arranging the dolls, keeping them intact for a year and keep them intact.... its such a task.,.. Trust me this is soo necessary to show our coming generations about our rich culture...
